BonbonBall

The BonbonBall has been an integral part of Viennese carnival for decades. Its unique flair, its classy ambience and its cheerful guests make it an unforgettable event. Because the BonbonBall not only attracts as a traditional Viennese ball, but has been offering its visitors extraordinary deposits for many years that make it unique in the Viennese scene.

The first, the historic BonbonBall, which was then still entitled “Sweet Night”, took place on January 29, 1949. It was founded by the later chairman, commercial councilor Franz Putz, and the uncle of today’s organizer Heinz Alphonsus, government councilor Johann Josef Köpf (see picture on the right).

For the first time after the war, people’s desire for entertainment was again at the top of the list, and the BonbonBall was there from the start. Even then, the ball provided an ideal platform for all dance enthusiasts to hit the evening in an upscale but exuberant atmosphere.

And over 50 years ago, sweets of all kinds were the focus. Until 1955 the event was still called “Sweet Night”. The first Miss Bonbon election took place this year and the long-time companion of the BonbonBall, Commercial Councilor Franz Putz, took over the chair for the first time.
